2019 Ford Explorer Interior, Price, and Engine

2019 Ford Explorer Interior, Price, and Engine – The Explorer is one of Ford’s better selling cars with more than 250,000 units being sold each year. Because it is so successful Ford can’t really make any major changes to its design. However, this doesn’t mean the rest of the car has to stay the same as before. It seems the new 2019 Ford Explorer is already well into the development cycle. In fact the car’s prototype has been seen testing on the road with heavy camouflage. Ford is still keeping it a secret but there are some interesting details about their upcoming three-row mid-size crossover.

From the camouflaged prototype we can see a few interesting design choices. For starters, it isn’t a revolutionary design but something a bit more tamed. The car looks a lot like a facelift of the current model. In the front we can still see the small air-intake under the grille while the bumper seems similar as well. However, the fog-lamps housings, the headlights as well as the fenders seem to be all new. From the profile the car looks very similar to its predecessor but the rear seem to be closely related to the new Expedition. The car doesn’t seem much bigger than the current version but Ford may surprise us. Here the 2019 Ford Explorer will more than likely showcase an entirely new interior that will have very little in common with its predecessor. This has been the case with Ford’s newer models and we don’t see it change anytime soon. Instead of the curvy center stack and the rather unusual layout, the new model will likely receive a more conventional looking dashboard. So far it seems that the new Fiesta could be a good indication about what the Explorer will have to offer which would actually be quite impressive.

The naturally aspirated V6 will most likely be discontinued from the 2019 Ford Explorer. The base model is expected to retain the 2.3 liter turbocharged inline 4 which is currently good for 280 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This will likely receive a small bump to around 300 horsepower and closer to 330 lb-ft of torque.

This type of setup does mean a longer hood but it also means better overall handling and better weight distribution. The price will likely not change much so expect it to still start around $33,000 which is already in the upper range of its class.
